Curio Cabinets Wholesale - Terms You Need To Know
The Basics of the Curio Cabinet Vocabulary
Before you start shopping for curio cabinets wholesale, there are a few terms that you may need to know. Whether you are shopping in a brick and mortar store or an online store, you will most likely run across these terms while trying to select the perfect cabinet. This is also true if you are looking for antique curio cabinets at an antique shop.
Glass Mirrored Back: The back side of the interior of the curio cabinet will be an actual mirror. Mirrors not only give depth to the cabinet, it also allows your treasures to be viewed panoramic style.
Select Hardwoods: When you hear this term, it means that the wood that was used to make the curio cabinet is a hard wood, such as poplar or ash. It does not, however, refer to oak or pine. Be very aware of this in case you are more interested in either oak or pine, which often last longer than other types of wood.
Beveled Glass: Beveled glass is actually cut at an angle on the edges, which causes the glass to actually act as a prism. This, in terms of the beveled glass that is used for curio cabinets, makes your display much more dramatic and spectacular.
Halogen Lighting: Halogen lighting is different from regular lighting. The light is brighter and whiter, allowing it to illuminate your treasures more effectively. Even though it is brighter, it is usually softer and easier on the eyes.
Plate Grooves: These are actual grooves inside the curio cabinet that are specifically designed to display plates, at a vertical angle.
While there are other terms that will be used in your quest for the perfect curio cabinet, those other terms are fairly well self-explanatory, while these are not. If any term is used that you do not understand, make sure you find out what it means before making your final selection.
